Sustainable tourism. Viatges Falcó de la Reina, responsible and ecotourism friendly
The current situation of COVID-19, has allowed people to reflect on our priorities in life, the relationship between people and our environment. The manufacturing and consumer model, has been linked to the climate crisis and the loss of biodiversity. the lockdowns allowed planet Earth to take a deep breath albeit briefly. Therefore the transition in the tourism industry towards a more sustainable model needs to be a constant reality linked to the personal commitment of everyone involved. (WTO)
Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands are known worldwide, not just for being a European paradise, but also for being a touristic destination focused on mass tourism at the highest level. In 2019, 16.45 million of tourists visited us, with all the impact that this represents to the environment. The benefits to the touristic industry negatively impact on the natural resources available, and therefore it is an important that those involved in the industry actively participate in ensuring that our immediate gratification does not destroy the very essence that the island have to offer. We need to ensure that our children and future generations have acces to sustainable islands full of wildlife, nature and pristine beaches..
Sustainable and respectful tourism
We argue for more respectful model of tourism that benefits the local people and the environment. Our compromise is based on the conservation of the natural territory of Serra de Tramuntanta, through its preservation and promotion.
For this reason we evaluate every activity we do, to improve the environmental practices and keep on reviewing them, according to our options, in order to minimize the impact caused on nature.
Mainly we work with small groups: individual activities, couples, families or small groups of friends.
We avoid the use of single-use plastics, that it causes to the environment, and we replace them with fabric bags or bottles of aluminium or glass.
In our KM0 Gourmet Picnics, the food is always top quality, and more importantly it is locally sourced from the island to reduce on the effect of long-distance transportation.
Internal code of ethics with sustainable tourism
In Viatges Falcó de la Reina we have an internal code of ethics, which is based mainly on the principles and values of the company and applies to everyone that is part of it.
The principles that govern this code are transparency, excellence and business commitment to the tourism industry, and the environment. The values are based on the personal commitment by each member of the team, honesty and respect to the agency and its clients.
External code of ethics with sustainable tourism
During their holidays in Mallorca, we reccommend that our guests follow an ethics code, with a couple of good practices, you can leave a small footprint on the island. These messages are so simple; such as the reduced use of water and energy, pay special attention to the small waste generated, the purchase of local products and the respect for the locals and their traditions. These simple guidelines can contribute to enjoyment of a fabulous holiday consistent with nature and to strenghthen the values of the tourist.
Our three pillars
For all these reasons, Viatges Falcó de la Reina, open the door to the Serra de Tramuntana, a magnificent natural environment, with the three pillars that sustain our business:
SECURITY, QUALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY
