Much of the wild and rugged Serra de Tramuntana Natural Landscape, is protected by the European Nature 2000 Network (ZEPA). The Tramuntana mountains have great limestone walls and very deep Karsts canyons, it’s where many of the Majorcan birds of prey have their habitat.

Bird watching in the central Serra de Tramuntana is a wonderful option for nature lovers, Luck permiting, on one day alone you may see many different birds of prey such as the majestic black vulture (Aegypius monachus), egyptian vulture (Neophron percnopterus), griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus), bonelli’s eagle (Aquila fasciata), osprey (Pandion haliaetus), booted eagle (Hieraetus pennatus), peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus), kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) or Eleonora’s falcon (Falco eleonorae).

A huge variety of small and mid-sized birds from this ecosystem will complete the sightings, without forgetting the rare birds that can visit the island during their migrations.
